Funerary Urns and Objects

In creating funerary pieces I find all the keystones for why I make art. These are sculptural objects with spiritual intent that can be of help to others.

Some pieces are containers for ashes. Some have ashes embedded in the clay.

funerary urn — At Rest—Raku-fired lidded vessel

funerary urn for dog — For Gert, a beloved German Shepherd.

Al schmid Platter — For Al, who grew up on a sorghum farm. Al’s ashes are embedded in this platter.

Funerary birchmark — Ashes are embedded in this ‘birchmark’ that depicts a scene from childhood.
